The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and insanity with equal excitement, all while telling captivating, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two creators whose work have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by having a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady confidence and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the television.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
