The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change. Online Platforms Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches similar services. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Service Background The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
