🔗 Share this article The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. In October of last year, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often characterized by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit. A Major Commitment On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters. "My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and helped it grow," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come." A President's Endorsement Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its peculiarly charming style. "All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about following this lovable family go about their everyday routines. In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to evolve comedy past its prevailing sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.” Future Seasons Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa could potentially help usher in that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan. The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
