The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial Fall Classic after the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, are still the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.

Toronto's team won the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
