Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
