World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season. The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship. A Season of High Performance Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year. In July, she became the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015. Record-Breaking Achievements Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings. She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists. On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence". Other WTA Award Winners Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking a 13-month break following the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year. Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals. Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
