American-Palestinian Youth Liberated After Nine-Month Period in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager having endured a nine-month period in Israel's custody without being charged gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 when he was arrested last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with the teenager's freedom.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.

Family described him as visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare he requires after being subjected to harsh conditions and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

The state department announced ongoing to extend consular services to Mohammed's family.

{"American leadership gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the White House, demanding more be done to secure his release.

The father, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen or spoken to Mohammed since February, and only heard regarding the treatment through judicial records.

He stayed lacking indictment in Ofer prison throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and homicide.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, as well as the United Nations, say some have suffered physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated they would maintain their efforts demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials succumbed to assault by radical settlers during a confrontation in July.

At the time, military authorities reported they were examining information regarding a civilian had been killed.

Both young men were employed together at their family's ice cream business in Tampa, Florida.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We expect United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
